Attack of the Fangirls' Profiles

On June 9, 2005, the characters who had died and gone to Hell during the series made an attempt at escape.  Their plan: take advantage of a weakness in the fabric of reality to make a portal which would lead their spirits back onto Earth.  Needless to say, all did not go as planned.

The portal from Hell to Integra's office crossed wires with a portal into Integra's office from that mysterious and unusual dimension known as the fangirl world. (Its path is diagrammed here.) As a result, fangirls of already-dead characters got a chance to latch on to their obsessions.

An additional portal cross dragged Helena into the mix. Then, thanks to some hellish bureaucracy, the shoulder devil of our beloved Integra came in - and was immediately glomped by a group of fans who didn't care that she wasn't technically Integra, because she was just as hot. Thus, the fangirl breakdown as shown at right.

This year, fangirl applications were only open for one day, and yet more than half the number of last year's fangirls ended up in this storyline. Nevertheless, this was few enough that the storyline's length could be kept down. (Interestingly, there ended up being more Integra fans this time. Next year is going to be chaotic.)

Pairings shipped this time around tended to be unusual, as this set of fans adored minor characters and was more interested in pairing them up than in the major ones. The percentage of PxS shippers remained constant from last year (32.5% then, 33.3% now); the percentage of AxI shippers actually dropped (from 62.3% to 54.2%). However, among Integra fans, these two pairings were far more popular: half of them shipped PxS, and over three quarters were for AxI.

One final thing of note: This storyline featured a previously unknown way of ridding oneself of fangirls. It turns out that if you surprise them badly enough, they will be frozen in shock for long enough to toss them back in the portal from whence they came. Handy information - unfortunately, they'll never get to use it again, as the fangirls will not be returning to Hell. Whether or not the living (and undead) victims of fangirls will figure this out has yet to be discovered . . .
